溺死（drowning）：俗称淹死。指因大量液体进入呼吸道，影响气体交换而引起的死亡。溺死，指水淹致死者。《金匮要略·杂疗方》曾有溺死救治之载述。《诸病源候论·中恶病诸候》：“人为水所没溺，水从孔窍入，灌注府脏，其气壅闭，故死。若早拯救得出，即泄沥其水，令气血得通，便得活。”王肯堂在《金匮要略》治溺死的基础上有所补阐。他说：“溺水，捞起以尸伏牛背上，无牛以凳，控去其水，冬月以棉被围之，却用皂角以生姜自然汁灌之，上下以炒姜擦之，得苏可治。”（《证治准绳·杂病》）《寿世保元·五绝》：“救溺水死者，先以刀斡开溺者口，横放箸一只，令其牙衔之，使可出水。又令一健夫，屈溺人两足，着肩上，以背相贴，倒驼之而行，令其出水。”
