湿式摩擦离合器是指摩擦件全部浸在油液中工作的摩擦离合器。常为多盘式。当离合器分开时，摩擦片与片间因有油压存在而互相打滑，在接合时，因施加压力而将片中间的油液挤出就能接合得很紧而传递扭矩，比干式摩擦离合器磨损小、散热好、温升低、寿命长，能传递较大的扭矩。
