淫祠意思为滥建的祠庙,不在祀典的祠庙。淫词在浙南称为古宫庙。 据民国《平阳县志》神教篇不完全统计,全县可供演出的古宫庙戏台就有360多处。这些古宫庙均为四合院式的建筑。大的宫庙一般为两进五开间或七开间,庙的结构,后进为神庙大殿,中间天井,左右两边轩廊,戏台紧依前进,面朝大殿,三面空旷。戏台平面呈方形,台面一般阔6至7米,铺厚达5厘米硬木板,戏台深为7至8米,高达8到9米,戏台离地面一般1.5米。台后以屏风为隔,屏风左右门有“出将”、“入相”匾额,即上台门和下台门,也就是演员出入之门。
