海上损失是指被保险货物在海洋运输中由于发生海上风险所造成的损坏或灭失，又称为海损（Average）。 按照各国海运保险业务习惯，海上损失也包括与海运连接的陆上运输和内河运输过程中所遇到的自然灾害和意外事故所致的损坏或灭失，例如地震、洪水、火灾、爆炸、海轮与驳船或码头碰撞所致的损失。
