流水生产是把生产过程划分为在时间上相等或成倍比的若干工序，并将其分别固定于按工艺过程顺序排列的各工作地，劳动对象按一定的节拍或速度，顺次“流”过各工作地进行加工的生产组织形式。对不能或不便移动的劳动对象（如建筑物、船舶、大型机器及其部件），也可由执行各工序的工人，按规定速度在劳动对象上顺序连续进行各工序的加工。
