沐浴节藏语叫“嘎玛日吉”（洗澡），是藏族人民特有的节日，在西藏至少有七八百年的历史。每年藏历七月上旬，在西藏，在拉萨河畔，从城市到乡村，从牧区到农区，都有一个群众性的洗澡活动。 这种一年一度的节日洗澡活动，要集中进行一个星期，所以，这是藏族独有的沐浴节。在这七天中，从娃娃到老人，都要下河洗澡，这已成为藏族群众传统的风俗习惯。
