氧气呼吸器又称隔绝式压缩氧呼吸器。呼吸系统与外界隔绝，仪器与人体呼吸系统形成内部循环，由高压气瓶提供氧气，有气囊存储呼、吸时的气体，50年代从前苏联引进，是生产了数十年，量大面广的呼吸防护产品，性能稳定可靠，广泛适用于石油、化工、冶金、煤炭、矿山、实验室等行业（部门），供经过专门训练的人在有毒、有害气体环境中（普通大气压）进行抢险、事故处理、救护或作业时佩戴使用。
主要原因是许多技术参数可以通过某些部件调整来完成，导致氧气呼吸器性能的不稳定。
