以氧化铝为主要原料,加入6～30%的粘土、氧化镁、氧化钙、氧化钛等烧结促进剂，混合后在1450～1800℃温度下烧结制成。氧化铝含量越多，越能发挥氧化铝的固有特性，性能愈好，但制造上也随氧化铝含量增加而变得困难。氧化铝瓷的特点是高温下仍具有良好的绝缘性能,纯氧化铝瓷可在800℃的温度下使用，其机械强度在所有氧化物系陶瓷中最高,其热导率大,耐热冲击能力强，可用于制造火花塞绝缘子、超高频大功率电真空器件的绝缘零件、电子管及整流器外壳、集成电路基片和雷达窗口等。
