桑赤锈病又称赤粉病、金桑、金叶等。分布在全国各植桑区。主要为害桑树嫩芽、幼叶、新梢、花格等。嫩芽染病病部畸形或弯曲，桑芽不能萌发。
桑赤锈病在广西桑树上常有发生，其发生规律较为明确，而桑锈病在广西属首次发现。
