根癌病又称冠瘿病。樱花和月季根癌主要发生在根颈处，也可发生在根部及地上部。病初期出现近圆形的小瘤状物，以后逐渐增大、变硬，表面粗糙、龟裂、颜色由浅变为深褐色或黑褐色，瘤内部木质化。瘤大小不等，大的似拳头大小或更大，数目几个到十几个不等。由于根系受到破坏，故造成病株生长缓慢，重者全株死亡。该病除为害樱花、月季外，还能为害大丽花、丁香、秋海棠、天竺葵、蔷薇、梅花以及林木、果树等300多种植物。
