核结构即原子核的结构。原子核的结构有些类似于原子，当原子核内的质子数或中子数分别(或同时)等于2、8、20、28、50、82等幻数时，这些原子核就特别稳定，这一点很像惰性气体的原子，因此原子核也有壳层结构。自1932年以来，人们提出各种核的结构模型，对核子的运动作近似的唯象的描述，但某个模型往往只能反映某一方面的特性。描述核结构的模型有费米气体模型、壳层模型、集体模型等。
