栲属(苦木栲属) Castanopsis (D.Don) Spach 常绿乔木，有顶芽，芽鳞多数。叶常2列互生，全缘或有锯齿，革质。雄花序直立，花被5~6裂；雌花单生或2~5生于总苞内，子房3室。总苞球形，稀杯状，开裂，稀不裂，全包坚果，外部具刺，稀为瘤状或鳞状；坚果1~3，当年或第二年成熟。约130种，分布于热带和亚热带地区。我国约70种，主要分布于长江以南温暖地区，多数为南方常绿阔叶林的建群种。是划分亚热带和温带的标志树种。
