树冠火（crown fire）是指林冠层着火的森林火灾。火势很猛，能使树干烧伤或枯死。烟深灰色，树冠上的火浪常在地面火浪的前方，延烧速度随风速和地形而异，每小时为5—25公里。阻止其蔓延的方法是结合天然障碍物(河流、小溪、道路、区划线等)开辟防火线。
当地面火遇到大风时，或树干上缠绕着爬蔓植物和有低垂下来的树枝，火便上升到树冠，成为树冠火。
