智齿冠周炎是指第三磨牙（又称智齿）牙冠周围的软组织炎症。常发生于18～25岁的青年，是常见口腔疾病之一。主要症状为牙冠周围软组织肿胀疼痛。如炎症影响咀嚼肌，可引起不同程度的张口受限，如波及咽侧则出现吞咽疼痛，导致病人咀嚼、进食及吞咽困难。病情重者尚可有周身不适、头痛、体温上升、食欲减退等全身症状。
