时间间隔法是指每趟列车发出以后，间隔一段时间再发出后一列车，以防止列车相撞。1840年以前，列车运行以“时间间隔法”来保证安全。也指采用不等时间间隔法划分重构时间段的重构方法，将负荷曲线按变化幅度进行不等时间段划分，利用阈值限制开关动作次数，实现减小网损和操作费用的目的。
