斑漆是两晋南北朝漆饰的一种技法，古时用它作为车乘的装饰。此法系用两种以上色漆，互相交错，呈现各种花纹，犹如动植物上面的斑纹而得名。《髹饰录·坤集·复饰》：“细斑地诸饰”杨明注：“所列诸饰，皆宜细斑也，而其斑黑、绿、红、黄、紫、褐，而质色亦然，乃六色互用，又有二色，三色错杂者，又有质斑同色，以浅深分者”。似与斑漆相仿。另外，用单色漆显出深浅不同斑纹，也有叫斑漆的。
最重要的是，“疣孢漆斑真菌”对通常被葛藤覆盖的植物的损害很少，或者没有损害，这些植物包括松树、橡树、雪松、美洲山核桃、山核桃、黑莓以及檫树。
