故障接地（fault earthing）又称为接地故障，指导体与大地的意外连接。当连接的阻抗小到可以忽略时，这种连接叫做"完全接地"。故障接地共分为三种情况：利用配电线路所设置的过电流保护兼作接地故障保护；利用零序电流来实现接地故障保护；利用剩余电流实现接地故障保护。
