拉舍尔经编机是以织物牵拉方向与针杆平面呈 140°以上夹角为结构特点的一类经编机。常用来编织窗帘、台布、床罩、毛毯、花边饰带、妇女内外衣、渔网、包装袋等组织结构比较复杂的经编针织物。拉舍尔机常用机号为10～48针/50.8毫米，最高达64针/50.8毫米。常用的工作幅宽为1900～6600毫米（75～260英寸）,最宽的达9650毫米（380英寸）。拉舍尔机常用舌针，有些机器最初使用槽针。
