拉祜语属汉藏语系藏缅语族彝语支。在中国主要分布于云南省的思茅、临沧地区和西双版纳傣族自治州。分拉祜纳和拉祜熙两个方言。拉祜族人口30多万，操拉祜纳方言的人口占总人口的80%以上。在国外通行于缅甸、泰国和老挝。
