抽水蓄能电站利用电力负荷低谷时的电能抽水至上水库,在电力负荷高峰期再放水至下水库发电的水电站。又称蓄能式水电站。它可将电网负荷低时的多余电能,转变为电网高峰时期的高价值电能,还适于调频、调相,稳定电力系统的周波和电压,且宜为事故备用,还可提高系统中火电站和核电站的效率。我国抽水蓄能电站的建设起步较晚,但由于后发效应,起点却较高,近年建设的几座大型抽水蓄能电站技术已处于世界先进水平。
