扶强材（stiffener）亦称“防挠材”，是为保证金属板的刚性所加装的钢质船体结构材料。船内、舱壁、肋板等常用型钢作扶强材。所有横舱壁均为带垂直扶强材的平面舱壁，所有纵舱壁为带水平扶强材或垂直扶强材的平面舱壁。外壁板带垂直扶强材，内壁板为带垂直扶强材。扶强材的偏差可使用直尺检查，直尺垂直于扶强材，扶强材根部处内壳与直尺间的最大间隙建议为 4mm。
