慢性化脓性中耳炎是中耳黏膜、骨膜或深达骨质的慢性化脓性炎症，常与慢性乳突炎合并存在。多因急性化脓性中耳炎延误治疗或治疗不当、迁延而成；或为急性坏死型中耳炎的直接延续。病程一般超过6～8周，反复患耳流脓，鼓膜穿孔及听力下降为主要临床特点。严重者可引起颅内、外并发症。
慢性中耳炎(chronic otitis media， COM)是常见的中耳炎性疾病，目前主要将其分为胆脂瘤型中耳炎及非胆脂瘤型中耳炎两型。
