包裹心腔的部分叫心壁。心壁是由心内膜、心肌、心外膜3层构成的，其中最厚的为心肌层。心壁在不同部位，由于负荷量不同，厚薄相差很大。两心房较薄；右心室次之，可达2～3mm；左心室最厚，可达9～12mm。心壁厚度发生变化，尤其某一部分发生变化，多是心脏病的某一表现。
