彩绘陶又称烧后彩绘陶，是历史悠久的陶瓷艺术品。指将陶胎烧成之后在其表面进行彩绘的陶器，与在陶坯上画彩、彩料和坯体压磨在一起、经高温焙烧而成的彩陶不同，彩绘陶的色料附着性不牢，花纹受潮或经水容易脱落。彩绘陶始于新石器时代晚期，常用的色彩有红、黑、黄、白、赭等，色彩绚丽，因绘制后不再烧彩，所以彩绘极易磨损脱落。
