当事人陈述指的是当事人在诉讼活动中就有关案情对司法机关及其工作人员所作的叙述。在侦查阶段，审查起诉阶段及审判阶段，当事人的陈述都是重要的证据材料。审判中的法庭调查和法庭辩论，都以当事人的陈述为重要内容。当事人的陈述都必须在审判长许可下进行。被告人供认犯罪后应陈述其犯罪全过程，否认罪行时应允许其提出辩解和反证；自诉人、附带民事诉讼的原告人也应当庭陈述自己的意见。
