应力波的一种，扰动或外力作用引起的应力和应变在弹性介质中传递的形式。弹性介质中质点间存在着相互作用的弹性力。当某处物质粒子离开平衡位置，即发生应变时，该粒子在弹性力的作用下发生振动，同时又引起周围粒子的应变和振动，这样形成的振动在弹性介质中的传播过程称为“弹性波”。
