弦切面（tangential section）是顺着树干主轴或木材纹理方向，不通过髓心与年轮平行或与木射线成垂直的纵切面。在该切面上，能显露纵向细胞的长度和宽度。 根据弦切面的不同纹路可以作为鉴别木材的依据之一。
弦切面上木射线与轴向薄壁组织形状、大小均不相同；
