异常高压又称超压。相对于静水压力，沉积盆地可出现异常低压和超压，二者统称为异常压力。当孔隙流体压力高于静水压力时称为超压，其上限为地层破裂压力。 异常高压与油气成藏具有密切的联系，是油气运移、聚集的重要动力，然而，过高的异常压力将会破坏油气成藏环境的平衡。在不同的沉积盆地中，异常高压的成因机制有所不同，但都受其所在盆地地层的沉积、成岩和构造作用的影响。
