平衡潮，是指由平衡潮理论所求得的潮汐。它假定：地球完全被海水覆盖，海底平坦、海水没有惯性、忽略地转偏向力和摩擦力。在这些假定下，某一时刻引潮力，压强梯度力和重力相平衡时，海面保持稳定状态所求得之潮汐，即为平衡潮。
