巢区又称巢域，是动物个体、配偶或家族活动和取食所涉及地地域范围。多数动物巢区无固定地形态或大小，有的是通过小径连接的几个地方，一般动物个体越大则巢区越大。在个体大小相似的动物间比较，以肉食或种子、果实为食的动物比单纯放牧（草食）动物的巢区大得多，后者通常为前者的1/4/这都取决于对能流量的需要。在控制动物密度、划定动物保护区时，要考虑巢区因素。
