小肠腺(small intestinal gland) 位居固有膜内，开口于相邻的绒毛之间的基底部。小肠腺主要由柱状细胞、杯状细胞和潘氏(paneth)细胞构成。柱状细胞数量最多，纹状缘不明显，只能分泌肠肽酶。潘氏细胞位居腺底部，细胞呈锥体形，胞质顶部有粗大的嗜酸性颗粒。潘氏细胞能分泌溶菌酶。
故可认为低等脊椎动物扬子鳄不仅在小肠腺和小肠上皮内，而且在固有层内均含有内分泌细胞。
