定价成本是定价生产成本的简称。制定价格所依据的生产成本。它作为补偿价值的货币表现，必须反映商品生产过程中必要的物质消耗和劳动者为自己劳动部分的消耗。以财务成本为基础，进行一定的分析、汇总和适当调整而确定。作为制定和调整价格的主要依据，其核定必须坚持以下原则： (1) 一般情况下应该是社会成本而不是个别成本。在特殊情况下可以依据地区成本或劣等条件下的成本。但在一个地区、一定时间内一种商品只能有一个定价成本。(2) 必须是正常生产条件下具体品种、规格的单项成本，不能是不分品种、不分规格的综合成本。(3) 在开支范围上既要强调合法性，要符合国家财务制度的规定，又要强调合理性，即按社会必要的物质耗费和工资耗费进入成本。因此，需要对财务成本的一些具体项目进行必要的调整，有些需要剔除，有些则需要补人。(4) 不能仅仅依据实际已经发生的成本，还要考虑再生产周期上将必然出现的因素加以调整确定。
