宗门，有多重含义，既可指宗族、同族，又可指祖宗的法门，一般为华夏文明嫡系相承者，泛指嫡传承继。历史上多指本门教派，如道教被称为盘古正宗，又称玄门。佛学中常见的“宗门”为专讲禅宗的法门。以“兼容并包、综合系统”见称的新杂家学派自称“宗门”，为集百家大成之学派。
