宋本[元]（公元一二八一年至一三三四年）字诚夫，大都人。生于元世祖至元十八年，卒于惠宗元统二年，年五十四岁。自幼颖拔。稍长，读书穷日夜，句探字索，必通贯乃已。至治元年（公元一三二一年）策士，赐进士第一；授翰林修撰。泰定元年，（公元一三二四年）除监察御史，以敢言称。
