学位证，为了证明学生专业知识和技术水平而授予的证书，在中国学位证授予资格单位为通过中国教育部学士学位证样本认可的高等院校或科学研究机构。学位证是证明一个人学历的证书；它不同于毕业证。获得学位意味着被授予者的受教育程度和学术水平达到规定标准的学术称号， 经在高等学校或科学研究部门学习和研究，成绩达到有关规定，由有关部门授与并得到国家社会承认的专业知识学习资历。中国的大学本科毕业证和学位证是分开的，有部分人本科毕业但是并不能获得学位。而中国的大专类学校是没有资格颁发学位证书的。
