在西南季风期，位于印度半岛中部的低气压槽。此槽一般呈东东南-西西北的方向，大致与喜马拉雅山平行，槽线平均位于山南约450km，但在每日天气图上南北位移显著。西南季风的活跃和中断与此槽的位置有密切关系。季风槽发展明显时，向东可扩展到中南半岛，并与菲律宾一带的近赤道槽连接。这时在我国华南经常出现一西南季风与东南季风的辐合区，有人亦称此辐合区为季风槽。也有人把华南前汛期出现在南海地区的低压槽称为季风槽，此槽一般呈东西向，是华南前汛期降水的主要天气系统。
