孔店组，属于古近纪始新世。为中国河北平原一套河流——湖沼相沉积岩性，以紫红、棕红间夹灰、青灰色泥岩、夹砂岩、砂砾岩，并夹有含石膏泥岩、油页岩、灰岩和玄武岩。厚409—1565米。不整合于白垩系地层之上。平原区和山区同样缺失古新统。
