头孢噻呋钠是头孢菌素类兽医临床专用抗生素，为广谱抗菌药。对革兰氏阳性菌和革兰氏阴性菌均有较强的抗菌作用。头孢噻呋作用于转录肽酶而阻断粘肽的合成，使细菌细胞壁缺失而达到杀菌作用。头孢噻呋具有稳定的β－内酰胺环，不易被耐药菌破坏，可作用于产β－内酰胺酶的革兰氏阳性菌和革兰氏阴性菌。
