太阳年，是指太阳连续两次通过春分点的时间间隔，即太阳中心自西向东沿黄道从春分点到春分点所经历的时间。太阳年又称回归年，1回归年为365.2422日，即365天5小时48分46秒。这是根据121个回归年的平均值计算出来的结果。每个回归年的时间长短并不相等。天文学家根据太阳系的运行规律编撰出“万年历”。
