中国哲学中天人合一观点有复杂的涵义，主要包含两层意义。第一层意义是，人是天地生成的，人的生活服从自然界的普遍规律。第二层意义是，自然界的普遍规律和人类道德的最高原则是一而二、二而一的。 对于天人关系，中国古代思想家一般都反对把天和人割裂、对立起来，而主张天人协调，天人合一。在他们看来，天与人、天道与人道、天性与人性是相类相通的，因而可以达到统一。
