大洋山被誉为“中国云顶”，面积133公顷，海拔1000多米。大洋山，原名大蝉山。蝉，古越方言字，田地之意。大蝉山中有石亭、田蝉、鸟外、高宅四大畈，田地万余亩，连亘十几里，大蝉山因此而得名。解放后，文化普及，崇尚简化，蝉洋同音，洋字妇幼皆识，因此，以大洋取代了大蝉。山中主要是花岗岩，地质上属白垩纪的侵入岩。
