大圆肌位于小圆肌的下侧，其下缘为背阔肌上缘遮盖，整个肌肉呈柱状，起于肩胛骨下角背面，肌束向外上方集中，止于肱骨小结嵴。起止点：位于小圆肌的下侧，其下缘为背阔肌上缘遮盖，整个肌肉呈柱状，起于肩胛骨下角背面，肌束向外上方集中，止于肱骨小结嵴。作用：肩关节旋内、肩关节内收、肩关节后伸（在无阻力的运动中，不表现出电的活动，但在做抗阻力动作时，它是原动肌），由于该肌对手臂的作用同背阔肌很相象，所以，被称为“背阔肌的小助手”。
腋神经入肌部位在大圆肌下缘以上发出。
