外来种 是同原产地土著种相对的术语。是指从原产地因偶然传入或有意引入到新地区并定殖的生物种，是那些出现在其过去或现在的自然分布范围及扩散力以外的物种、亚种或以下的分类单元，包括所有可能存活，继而繁殖的部分、配子或繁殖体。在自然分布范围之外，在没有直接或间接引入或人类照顾之下，这些物种不能存活。也可以泛指非本土原产的各种外域物种。
