Charpy impact test 是用以测定金属材料抗缺口敏感性(韧性)的试验。制备有一定形状和尺寸的金属试样，使其具有U形缺口或V形缺口，在夏比冲击试验机上处于简支梁状态，以试验机举起的摆锤作一次冲击，使试样沿缺口冲断，用折断时摆锤重新升起高度差计算试样的吸收功，即为Aku和Akv。可在不同温度下作冲击试验。吸收功值(焦耳)大，表示材料韧性好，对结构中的缺口或其他的应力集中情况不敏感。对重要结构的材料近年来趋向于采用更能反映缺口效应的V形缺口试样做冲击试验。
