堆焊层是指用以保护构件表面不遭腐蚀或其他损伤的金属包层。化工设备中用得最广泛的是用焊接方法(如带极堆焊)将耐腐蚀的奥氏体不锈钢堆焊在设备的内表面。例如尿素合成塔内壁堆焊层采用超低碳含钼奥氏体不锈钢，可大大减缓尿素对设备的腐蚀。
