是指塌陷及沉降等地质作用导致的地面裂隙。分布形态有弧形、直线形、封闭圆形或同心圆形等。一般多出现在沉降区内或塌陷区周围。地面开裂的长度不等，长者达百余米，裂口宽1～30厘米，裂面倾角陡，一般倾向沉降或塌陷中心。开裂的两侧常有位移现象，靠近沉降或塌陷中心一侧的位移量较大。
