地方种又称本地种，土著种，是指某一地区内原先就有、而不是由外地迁徙而来或引入之物种。它可以是这一地区的固有种，也可以是特有种或残遗种。 入侵者对地方种个体的影响可以很容易地测量。个体在面临捕食者或竞争者时生长或生殖率会下降。生物个体的形态在受到入侵者的作用时也会产生改变。个体还会由于入侵者的捕食或竞争而产生行为学上的反应，如个体改变生境的利用或活动的模式等。 入侵种对地方种的遗传影响可以是间接的，如：改变自然选择的模式或本地种群间的基因流通，也可以是直接通过杂交和基因渗通而发生作用。
