地层区（stratigraphic region）是中国一级地层区划单元，也是地层区划中最大的划分单元。根据中国情况，地层区的划分应以考虑古生界为主，但也必须照顾到其下的南华系、震旦系和其上的三叠系，并注意基底情况。
