土壤源热泵是利用地下常温土壤温度相对稳定的特性，通过深埋于建筑物周围的管路系统与建筑物内部完成热交换的装置。冬季从土壤中取热，向建筑物供暖；夏季向土壤排热，为建筑物制冷。它以土壤作为热源、冷源，通过高效热泵机组向建筑物供热或供冷。高效热泵机组的能效比一般能达到4.0kw/kw以上，与传统的冷水机组加锅炉的配置相比，全年能耗可节省40%左右，初投资偏高，机房面积较小，节省常规系统冷却塔可观的耗水量，运行费用低，不产生任何有害物质，对环境无污染，实现了环保的功效。
