国别史是分国记载史事的史书，中国第一部国别史为《国语》，《国语》共二十一篇：《周语》三篇、《鲁语》二篇、《齐语》一篇、《晋语》九篇、《郑语》一篇、《楚语》二篇、《吴语》一篇、《越语》二篇，共七万余字。另一部国别史为《战国策》共三十三卷。
